Coaching Requirements

West Seattle Junior Football & Cheer has great coaches, but we could always use more. We welcome anyone who has the desire and commitment to make a positive impact on the youth in our community. If you’re interested in coaching, review the five requirements below and contact us.

Coaching Requirements

  1. Commit to the Wildcats program and philosophy.
  2. Pass the background check.
  3. Read and sign this Coach's Code of Conduct.
  4. Register and attend NJFL Certification Training and Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA) Training.
  5. Complete the online USA Football Tackle Coach Certification course.

More info about each requirement is below.

Committing to the Program

Our programs require coaches to run the same offense and defense at every level. We have a strict coach conduct policy; there's absolutely no profanity on the field. All coaches need USA Football certification and need to adhere to USA Football practice guidelines. Our coaches do this because they want to, not because they have to.

Background Checks

The background check is conducted by NJFL. Protect Youth Sports is the company conducting the checks. Starting the background check is the first step of the process.

Coach's Code of Conduct

Each coach signs the Code of Conduct. Our coaches hold each other accountable, and this is point of pride for our franchise.

NJFL and PCA Certification

Coaches are required to have certification in three areas:

  1. NJFL: Coaches attend a certification meeting where they learn league rules and expectations.
  2. PCA: The certification ensures coaches know and understand the aspects of positive coaching.

NJFL/PCA Certification Dates and Locations

Below are the links to the RSVP forms for the first two upcoming required NJFL Coaches Clinics and PCA Trainings. Tickets are limited to one per person. If you want to attend both the NJFL and PCA sessions back-to-back, you will need to register for each one. (To prevent franchises booking blocks of tickets, reservations with identical email addresses will be deleted.)
